Lent 35

I pray for the courage to live extravagantly
as Jesus did in his last days:

speaking the truth boldly
and calling out lies;

inviting wasteful giving
and giving wastefully;

discerning the ways of death
and pursing life at all cost;

daring to commit to a choice
and praying all the way.

Do you believe that Jesus died for our sins?

Anonymous: Do you ask because you think that I left out the "Jesus died for our sins" part in this prayer? Because you are struggling with sacrificial atonement? Because you're curious to know how heretical my theology is?

If you want to claim that you are a Christian, you should be able to answer that question.

My Christology runs deep and is very dear to me personally and central to my ministry. I believe that Jesus was/is salvific in his life, death and resurrection...but never simply or exclusively in his death on the cross.

I do not believe in the litmus tests of creeds (such as the one implied by your original question) used between Christians to valuate degrees of orthodoxy and heresy. Hence, my refusal to be boxed into a simple "yes" or "no" response.

Thank you for visiting "Faith and Water" and for taking the time to leave your comments. I hope that you have found/are finding kernels of encouragement here for your own faith journey.

OK, then "salvific" from Sin? In other words do you believe in sin?
